Kapalabhati Breathwork – Coming Back to Your Baseline
Why Am I So Addicted to This Feeling?
There’s a point during Kapalabhati where I completely lose track of everything around me.
The exhales find their own rhythm. Again. Again. Again.
My abdomen begins to work harder and, eventually, my body gives me that quiet little signal: okay… enough now.
So I stop.
One final exhale.
And I hold.
For those few seconds, there is absolutely nothing to do but listen.
I can feel the faintest pulsation somewhere beneath my ribs, almost like a tiny clock inside my body keeping time for me.
Then I inhale.
My belly expands like a balloon. My chest rises towards the sky. The breath keeps travelling until it almost feels as though my whole body is expanding into the room around me.
And then I hold again.
This time, I notice my heartbeat.
Slow. Rhythmic. Completely impossible to ignore.
Somewhere between those moments, everything becomes incredibly quiet.
Not the room, but Me.
The mental chatter that was there five minutes ago seems to have disappeared. My shoulders feel lighter. My muscles feel softer. Even my brain somehow feels lighter.
The best way I can describe it is this:
Imagine opening a drawer that has been crammed with things for years.
You take everything out.
Every last thing.
And then you stand there looking at this beautifully empty drawer.
Nothing competing for space. Nothing spilling over the edges.
That is what my head feels like.
Space.
Almost like an enormous playground with nothing in the way. My thoughts can move in any direction without crashing into another thought, another worry, another thing I need to remember.
And this is usually the part I love most.
Because when everything else becomes quiet, my intuition somehow becomes louder.
Sometimes I ask these questions:
✨️ Show me what I’m not seeing.
✨️ Bring me clarity.
✨️ Help me understand this.
✨️ And then I leave it alone.
✨️ I don’t chase the answer.
I exhale and let it melt away, allowing myself to return to zero.
That feeling of having cleared the room inside my own head is beyond words to explain until you’ve experienced it on your own.
You don’t always need something outside of yourself to change the way you feel.
Your breath is your lighthouse. It guides you home.
And that’s the part I’m addicted to… the feeling that makes me want to take another breath and begin all over again 💛✨
